Dieting for Your Health

To diet or not to diet. That is the question. Is dieting always the best choice if we are overweight? In this article we are going to look an alternative to dieting for health. That alternative is to consider a lifestyle change.

There are numerous diets available with new ones being announced regularly. Many of us have tried them all. If we lose a few pounds we will likely gain them back in a short period of time. This is discouraging. After a few times of riding the ups and downs we just want to give up and quit trying to loose weight. Even though diets can be a big help in loosing weight initially, it takes a lifestyle change to sustain the weight loss.

If we tend to be emotional and tense, food has a soothing effect. Here I am going to introduce the bad word "exercise". This does not necessarily mean trips to the gym or start jogging again. I does mean that you might park at the far end of the parking lot and walk a few extra steps to the store or office. Take the stairs to the office rather than the elevator. My point here is to purposefully work at adding some physical activity into your daily routine.

Dancing is a fun way to exercise, whether it is modern, ballroom or square dancing. There is dancing for all ages. Enroll in one of the dancing classes. If you think you can't dance because you have two left feet, well, so does almost everyone in the class. You will be in good company. If you are engaged in these activities then you won't be raiding the refrigerator or snacking as you watch TV every evening. Eliminating boredom snacking will be a big pluses in dieting for your health.

You do not need to be a strong willed person to do this. If the want to or desire is there the will will follow along. It is important to be patient with yourself and forgiving. You did not become overweight in the last month. You probably put the weight on over several months or even years. It is not all going to come off in a month. Give your body time to adapt to your new lifestyle. Above all be persistent. Results may not come quickly.

By adjusting your eating habits and adding exercise to your lifestyle you will produce significant benefits in the way you feel and in your overall health.

Unknown Secrets of Weight Loss

You have tried everything. You have literally started a new diet every week for the last 3 years. Let's see how many of the old time diets I can remember and tried. How about the grapefruit diet? I was consuming grapefruit by the truckload until Tropicana came to my house and put the "squeeze" on me, saving my life was preferable and more important things than becoming grapefruit concentrate. How about the Atkins diet? That was a biggie because I love bacon and unlimited amounts of bacon were allowed on the Atkins diet. I remember I ate two pounds of bacon and was feeling "light" until I passed gas that killed the my parakeet. My next attempt was the Scarsdale Diet. That worked great until Dr. Townsend's girlfriend killed him in a jealous rage. His company still owes me the last 8 weeks of their wonderful diet food. Does anybody know the statues of limitations on suing the Scarsdale Company ? It was only 30 years ago . I must still have rights!

OK, OK, I am done ranting and raving about my trials and tribulations of dieting. Deep down inside, I knew that good nutrition and exercise are vital keys to successful weight loss. But, like everybody else, my mind was swayed by the diets that claimed to be easy, quick and that worked like magic. Today, 50 lbs. lighter, fit and being a lean cruising machine are my lifestyle. It's logic that prevails in losing weight. Diet and exercise make scientific sense and work every time (minor exceptions to the rule). But even under optimal conditions of healthy nutrition and exercise weight loss can be hampered by the PH of our body. Let me repeat that again. Weight loss can be hampered by the PH of our bodies. If you are eating healthy and exercising and weight loss is still very difficult try this little publicized secret. Follow an alkaline diet! This can make all the difference in the world in sustaining weight loss. I know it sounds too simple but it does make a difference. As an analogy, ask any good landscaper about the use of lime (a powder that enhances soil to a more basic condition) and what impact it has on the plant. It makes a HUGE difference. An alkaline diet can turn average diet results into outstanding diet results.

Here are some key properties of the alkaline diet. Our modern lifestyles create an overabundance of acidity. Acidity brings bad health and disease. Eating a diet that balances the PH never causes the body to gain weight. Our body's PH is slightly alkaline at 7.35 to 7.45. We can change the PH balance in our body by eating 80% alkaline foods and 20% acidic foods that digest and bring our body into balance. God made the plant with abilities to grow and thrive. So we can observe the abilities of plants to heal themselves, thrive and grow and thrive and apply them to humanity. Nutrients of plants nourish plants and we can eat the same nutrients to nourish and heal ourselves. The acidic foods that we eat bring death and disease. Alkaline foods bring energy and bring healthy states to the body. The nutrients heal the plant and the human body as well, so we cannot over cook our foods, destroying the nutrients. Try to eat raw foods or slightly cooked. Alkaline foods consists mostly of all vegetables, some fruits, fresh water fish, almonds, tofu and low fat foods. Acidic foods consist of sugar, cheese, meats, poultry, etc.

The bottom line is this. Weight loss is never easy. But by understanding the various elements of diet with and emphasis on proper PH balance you are using the science of what we know to enhance weight loss. Good luck and happy losing!!

The 3 Tips to Lose Weight Fast

Our everyday lives we all need to have our bodies in the best shape that It can be because you want to be able to get down whatever you have to do that day. But it is not always that easy for all of us. Lots of people work hours and hours to have their bodies in the tip top shape that they want it to be in. If you really want your body to be in shape then you should do these three things daily which are be portion oriented, drink eight glasses of water, and exercise.

The reason that you want to make sure that you want to be portion oriented is because the less food that you intake the less food that your body has to digest. So you want to make sure that you are able to eat good moderate portions at least I would say three times a day. I would start off in the morning eating my moderately portioned breakfast and then I would have a little snack in the afternoon that is moderately portioned. Then after that I will chill for awhile and toward the evening then I will have my last moderately portioned dinner. Portions help me cut back so much on my food intake it is not even funny how much weight that you can lose so quickly.

Next you want to be drinking eight glasses of water a day because if you do this then you will be helping cool your body down during the day. Also it is good to drink lots of water because it will make you sweat out all your excess water weight. Also drinking a lot of water will keep you hydrated that way when you are doing your daily activities then you will not get exhausted. This will help you out because you will be like the energizer bunny and keep going and going. If you are only drinking water everyday and cut out all of those extras like soda, beer, and wine then in no time you will see a huge change in the mirror because you will look like a completely different person. You will lose so much weight cutting out all that crap.

Last what you want to make sure that you do everyday is exercise. No matter what you do just make sure you get out there and do something because every little bit will help. What really help me is I go out and walk everyday. When I go out walking I try to complete five miles. If you do this everyday then you will be shedding inches off of you waist in a matter of days.

Those are the things that you should try to do everyday because if you do then you will lose weight like there is no tomorrow.
