Weight Loss Diet Plans

There are untold numbers of men and women who constantly strive to achieve their weight loss goals. They are both successful and unsuccessful in their attempts. Successful in the sense that they manage to lose some weight, and sometimes, manage to achieve their target weight. The problem lies with the fact that most people gain most, if not all, of that weight back in the following months.

Let me tell you a simple truth. It does not have to be that way. On the contrary, it is possible to lose weight effortlessly and to keep it off forever. So, you may ask, what is the secret?

There is no secret. The truth is that dieting simply does not work. Not in the long term. Your goal is to achieve your target weight easily and safely. Just as important you want to keep from gaining the weight back without any effort on your part.

Let us face the facts. Fad diets that advertise fast weight loss results are flawed in their approach. It is unrealistic to expect that these diets will have any long term success.

There are three primary factors that determine a successful weight loss program. If you can understand this and incorporate this into your daily life their is no doubt that you will achieve the results that you desire.

Weight loss and maintaining that loss do not have to be a life long struggle. Consider the following three factors and how you can incorporate them into your life.

1/ You have to set your goals. This is absolutely the most important step. Your desire to succeed must be paramount. Also, this is everyone's biggest mistake. Believe it or not, setting your target weight is not your primary goal. The single, biggest, most important goal that you can establish is to transform your lifestyle.

I do not mean to be cruel here, but gaining weight and becoming fat does not happen in a vacuum. There are serious consequences to consuming foods on a daily basis that are outside the spectrum of good, healthy nutrition.

Do you eat to live or do you live to eat? If your answer is the latter you will encounter some serious difficulties when attempting to lose weight and keep it off.

The single most important factor in your weight loss program involves a radical lifestyle shift. This should be your primary goal.

To clarify what this means: You should eat mostly all natural foods. This includes grains, vegetables, beans, legumes, nuts and fruit. These are the foods that we are designed to eat naturally.

2/ Now that you have established your goal, do it. Clean out and restock your shelves. Stop eating at fast food places. Stop eating processed and enriched foods.

I know, I know, I know. This just is not practical. Stop reading now, right here, and go find a website or an article that reinforces either what you believe or what you want to do.

Unfortunately, the truth is the truth. Life is similar to a board game. This game has rules. We have as much freedom to do whatever we please as long as we comprehend and play by the rules.

We are designed to consume whole, natural foods. Once you are able to wrap your mind around this, the easier this will be.

What is interesting here is that once you alter your lifestyle, the weight will come off effortlessly. Some interesting by products of this effort include improved health, increased energy and clarity of mind.

3/ Just as we are designed to eat natural foods, we also are made to be active. It is extremely difficult to lose weight and to be healthy when sitting around on our butts all day.

If you are one of those that lead a sedentary lifestyle it will be necessary to incorporate some sort of exercise regimen into your daily routine. Exercising on a regular basis gets the improves our circulation, breaks up stagnation, increases our energy and peace of mind and helps us to lose weight.

That's it. Think about what I have said. Cruise the internet and see what others are saying. But I will tell you this. I believe that the truth of what I have said is self evident. If you get it, take action.

Tummy Fat! Is It Important?

Tummy fat. Some of us have it, others don't. Is there anything special about a big belly compared to a large bottom? Well, surprisingly, not all body fat is created equal! According to a study carried out by researchers from MacMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario it seems that gauging your heart attack risk depends on where your fat is, rather that how much fat you have.

These types of findings are not unique to MacMasters. Dr David Heber, Ph.D., from UCLAs Centre for Human Nutrition reports that distribution of body fat is a more important predictor of heart attack risk than the traditional measurement of Body Mass Index (BMI), which is a measurement based on the ratio between your height and weight.

It appears that a more accurate predictor of the impact body fat has on your health, is your overall body shape. You may be more like an apple or a pear, or evenly shaped top and bottom. You may have large thighs, fat hips and a huge bum and have a lower heart attack risk than someone with skinny legs and a big belly.

A more accurate and telling predictor of heart attack risk, is the waist-to-hip ratio.

What is your waist-to-hip ratio?

Divide your waist measurement by your hip measurement. For example, if your hips measurement is 40 inches and your waist is 34 inches your hip-to-waist ratio is 0.85. If you are a man, that's great, if you are a woman, that's OK (but you are right on the limit of healthy).

- A man's ratio should not be over 0.90

- A woman's ratio should not be over 0.85

Dont fight nature

How To Lose 10 Pounds In 3, 4, or 5 Days - 2 Weight Loss Strategies

If you want to lose 10 pounds in 3 or 4 days you need to know that this is a very complicated task and may not be the healthiest thing in the world. I'd have to say that the chances of you succeeding in losing that much weight in such a short time are very slim, but it can be theoretically be done.

I'm going to share two ways in which this can be done. Be aware that you need to be careful when pursuing this kind of weight loss because you will be experiencing a massive calorie deficit for the 3, 4, or 5 days in which you want to lose these 10 pounds.

Ready? Ok, let's go.

In order to create the calorie deficit required to lose 10 pounds in 3, 4, or 5 days, you'll need to either massively cut down your calorie intake or to greatly increase your physical activity to a very high level, or a combination of the two.

1. If you want to concentrate on physical activity, you'll need to spend a lot of hours doing aerobic exercises and cutting down on your carb and sugar intake. A good idea would be to go on a hiking and camping trip. Hiking keeps you moving through the day for hours on end burning tons of calories. Camping keeps you away from your fridge and all the fatty food in it. You should take only lean foods with you on your trip and to make sure that your hiking is intensive.

2. If you want to stay at your home and not go on a trip, be aware that nutrition alone will not be enough to create the necessary deficit to lose 10 pounds in such a short time, but you may be able to do with less intensive exercise than hiking. Personally, I don;t recommend trying to lose 10 pounds in such a short time. It is much better to give yourself at least 2 weeks to lose 10 pounds. Water For Weight Loss

Eating the right foods is integral to losing fat, but many overlook the reality that what you drink plays an important role as well. We all have preferences when it comes to drinks. Some prefer alcohol, some detest water, and some believe that the only thing that keeps them going is cup after cup of coffee. However, there are consequences, both good and bad, depending on what you typically drink. Lets start with the most important drink, water. As early as 2003, reports were beginning to surface about how water actually elevates the metabolic rate, therefore aiding in weight loss. This study conducted at Berlins Franz-Volhard Clinical Research Center studied the caloric intake and energy expenditures of seven men and seven women who were not overweight. After the test subjects each drank a little over 2 glasses of water, their metabolic rates increased by as much as 30% for both men and women. The increases occurred within 10 minutes of ingestion and reached a maximum after about 30 to 40 minutes. Researchers found that if a person increases their water intake by 1.5 liters a day without altering anything else, they would still burn an extra 17,400 calories by the end of the year. That is unbelievable. Furthermore, its also well known that water is satiating in that it helps curb hunger pangs, therefore preventing you from overeating. Obviously, water is vital for survival, but now we know that it helps to burn more calories giving us another reason as to why its necessary for fat loss.

Dairy and Weight Loss

Another study came out in 2003 that may be difficult to imagine being true, but research has arrived at the conclusion that low-fat dairy products are a wonderful means in aiding with fat loss. According to the American Society for Nutritional Sciences Journal of Nutrition, women who consumed milk, yogurt, and cheese three to four times a day lost 70% more body fat than women who didnt eat dairy. Supposedly, the reason is that calcium actually helps to boost the metabolic rate. Oddly enough, other foods fortified with calcium wont have the same weight loss effect as the dairy products. Women reap the largest benefit when they consume three servings of dairy a day and 1,200 milligrams of calcium a day. So, make sure you pick up some milk, but keep it low in fat for the best results.

Drinking Alcohol

Lastly, I believe it goes without saying that alcohol needs to be used in moderation and, in my opinion, not at all if fat loss is truly your goal. First off, alcohol actually hinders the mobilization of fat and since the fat cant be utilized to produce energy, glucose (carbohydrates) is then used to provide energy for the body. In turn, the elevated glucose levels lead to a rush of insulin to the blood in order to cart away the glucose to the brain, muscles, and elsewhere. However, insulin doesnt know when to stop with the carting away of the glucose and ends up lowering your blood sugar in the process so that you feel sluggish and weak. Imagine yourself crashing after a sugar high. Consequently, the appetite is triggered and more, unnecessary calories are consumed. To make a long story short, alcohol completely disrupts your metabolism and can even noticeably slow it down up to nearly two days following the alcohol ingestion. Be smart about what you drink. If you choose right, you might just find a body under there thats worth keeping forever.

But, how do you know what your target heart rate is? You can dedicate a lot of time to figuring this out using elaborate formulas and tests, but there is an easier way. Its called a "talk test". Try having a normal conversation during your exercise activity. If you can speak clearly, without any difficulties, you are probably in the 50 to 80 percent target heart range. This is a fantastic fat burning zone, and will definitely help you to lose that weight.

If you are having problems speaking while exercising, you are probably exercising too vigorously. If that is the case, you should bring the intensity down a notch, and prolong your exercise. That will enable you to last longer and burn more calories!

Drink Water!!

You have been hearing your parents tell you this since you were a little kid. Drink water! It will do wonders for your looks, it will flush out impurities from your skin, and it will give you a clear, vibrant, glowing complexion. Even skin that begins to sag with aging can become taut and tight when the skin cells are properly hydrated.

When you are properly hydrated, your muscles can literally feel the difference. They will contract more easily, and your workouts will be drastically more effective. Consequently, you will be left with great muscle tone and you will be on your way to losing that weight!

So, is drinking 8 glasses of water a day too hard? Really? Its only 2 quarts of water. I know dozens of people who drink that much soda in one day. Make the effort to drink the water, and it will pay off in multiples.

When you are drinking the amount of water that your body desires, you will notice a decrease in appetite, and you will become a healthier and leaner new you!
