Diets DO Work for Weight Loss

Its so easy to screw up your weight loss plan with a bad diet.

I know, there are too many diets, but I believe some of them work. Why can't the experts agree on just one nutrition program?"

Well, first, let me say that I believe diets DO work, and that there are so many of them because we all have such different personalities and likes and dislikes for foods, that it really shouldn't come as a huge surprise that a bunch of different diets can work.

That said, I'm not a huge fan of extreme diets. I don't think you have to restrict yourself of carbohydrates. After all, that's never going to work if you've been raised to eat an apple and a banana everyday.

You can eat apples and bananas and oranges and still lose weight. Almost all foods can be incorporated into a healthy fat loss plan.

So I'm about to give you my preferred nutrition plan. It's not extreme. It's not crazy. It's not about denying you any healthy foods. You can eat meat, carbohydrates, and healthy fats on this program.

It's really all about eating whole, natural foods. In fact, I sometimes joke that my plan should be called the "dental floss diet", because almost every food in the plan requires you to floss after eating it (apples, nuts, meat, oranges, broccoli, etc., etc.).

So live a healthy lifestyle, eat whole, natural foods, and avoid fast food. Its that easy.

After all, there's a saying in the fitness industry, "you can't out-train a bad diet", and that hold's true almost 100% of the time (and especially as you get older).

Fortunately, I also believe that good nutrition for fat loss is very simple. And here are my 5 steps to building a fast fat burning diet.

1) Find out how much you are eating now. Use fitday.com.

2) If you are not losing weight, eat less.

3) Eat fruits, vegetables, nuts, and good protein sources. No more processed foods.

4) Give yourself one treat meal per week to look forward to - not a treat day, just a treat meal.

5) Plan ahead. On Saturday or Sunday, go to the store, buy all your food, and then cook it and freeze it for the week. You will avoid bad habits this way. Identify obstacles and come up with solutions to avoid them.

That is it.

Very simple. Most people do pretty well on 1-3 and even 5, but mess up on number 4. People cheat a lot more than they admit to me. You have to be honest with what you are eating. Track it for a few days. It could be shocking.

The little things can add up to big time problems. Record your diet.

And all of this can be avoided if you follow rule #5.

Find a good eating plan and use my workouts to get results.

Amazingly Simple Weight Loss Tips

You only have to look at the number of people that fail to succeed in their diets to realize that dieting isn't easy. However the steps we need to follow to succeed are simple.

Here then are a few simple weight loss tips that you can use to help you start losing weight today.

EAT SMALL MEALS.

Eating small meals more often stops you from snacking and binging between meals as you won't become hungry. It also helps to keep the metabolism active and doesn't give it a chance to change and start working at a lower rate.

DON'T EAT TOO MUCH.

Try to eat smaller portions. Most people eat until they feel full but it actually takes up to 20 minutes after eating for the body to realize you full. This means that when you feel full during eating that you have actually eaten more than you needed to.

DRINK A LOT OF WATER.

Water can help us feel less tired and more energetic but most importantly it makes us feel fuller. Cold water also reduces our body temperature which in turn helps us to burn more calories as our body works to get the body temperature back to its regular level.

GET SOME EXERCISE.

You don't need to do amazing levels of exercise to get in better shape and more importantly to burn more calories. Walking is a great way of getting exercise and it is something anyone can do. Simply walking the dog or going to the shops on foot can make a major difference.

Following these simple weight loss tips along with using the right dieting program should see you getting results in no time at all.

The Number 1 Weight Loss Technique That Nobody Knows About

There is a simple way to aid your weight loss process that everyone either forgets, passes over, or just plain doesn't know about. It's free, and only takes minutes a day. What could be so simple yet nearly guarantee a level of success in conjunction with a good weight loss program?

It's simple. Just keep a food journal.

Did you know that most people have no idea how many calories they consume in a day? Even professional dietitians and doctors often underestimate their daily caloric intake by as much as 20%! How is this possible?

The culprit lies in the "sneaky" calories that reside in things like 3 extra taco chips, an extra mouthful from your spouse's plate, or a few M&M's grabbed on the way out of the kitchen. Totaled together, these overlooked activities can add up to several pounds in mere months.

Consider it this way: A typical taco chip has about 8-10 calories in it. Eat 5-6 extra chips per day, and changing nothing else, you could gain up to 6 pounds over the course of a year! And you probably never even noticed what you were doing.

The simple thing is this: most people watch what they eat at mealtimes, which is great. But people often fail to notice the "in-betweens." By keeping a strict food journal and writing down everything you eat, you will become aware of all the little extras that are piling up and ruining your weight loss efforts.

In conjunction with proven weight loss programs and dietary changes as well as an increase in exercise, keeping a food journal can almost guarantee that you will lose weight.

Finding the calorie counts in the foods you eat can be as easy as looking at the nutrition facts on the back of the box. Finding calorie counts for fast food and other "non-listed" foods is as easy as searching Google.

Of course, you should invest in a good weight loss plan to help you begin to make better food choices.

Want to Get Rid of Belly Fat and Get Rid of Love Handles?

There are very few people I've known in this life who haven't wondered how to get rid of love handles or how to get rid of belly fat. Those of us who have love handles, also known by other colorful names like spare tire, and belly fat, not so affectionately referred to as a pot-belly, find very little to love about those handles and that belly says we've been letting ourselves go to pot.

Love handles and belly fat are basically nice ways to describe the fat that accumulates on the lower abdomen and on each side of the waist. But any way you view it, those love handles are warning signs of undesired weight gain. Yes, let's call it what it is, that belly fat is just unwanted weight. And the only way to get rid of love handles and to get rid of belly fat is to lose weight.

That means you've got to find a reliable eating plan that will both nourish your body while reducing that pot-belly and those love handles. Finding reliable weight lose information can be an absolutely discouraging endeavor since there are quite literally hundreds of weight loss plans on the market today that make all types of preposterous claims

First, find a healthy plan you intend to keep. To reduce your overall body fat and keep it off, you need to find a healthy eating plan. It's tempting, when you're trying to lose weight, to skip meals to reduce your caloric intake, but a better--and easier--way to cut calories is to find a reliable diet that fits your tastes and lifestyle; one you can adopt for life. So to prevent or reduce excess weight around the abdomen, or wherever you're genetically predisposed to deposit it, you need a healthy diet.

Compare the different diets based on the type foods you enjoy, and the ones you already know pack on the pounds now. Don't be tempted by plans offering huge weight loss over a short period of time. A plan offering fast results is not a healthy one, and you want a plan you can stick with for the rest of your life; a healthy diet that will keep the weight off.

Once you start losing body fat, you can firm up your body by exercising. The main thing to remember though is that spare tires and pot-bellies indicate too much body fat. And losing body fat is the best (read only) way to get rid of love handles and to get rid of belly fat.

If you want to lose weight then find the right diet for you, and then get up off the couch and go for a walk, take a ride on your bike, or go to the gym. When you maintain a healthy diet and institute a regular cardiovascular workout routine, your love handles and belly fat will gradually reduce without any particular special exercise to get rid of them. So, there you have it: the skinny on how to get rid of love handles and belly fat.

Weight Loss - Lose 7 Pounds in Three Days

If you want to slim down fast, then here is a a plan for you. It's a three day metabolic jumpstart, one built on foods that decrease hunger as they increase calorie burn.

People who have tried many other diets have had great success with this plan. It uses thermogenic foods, which boost metabolism up to 20%. Dieters say they can literally feel their metabolism heat up. They also claim to be more satisfied with less food. They say they didn't fail on the other diets, the other diets failed them. This one works.

Here are some the metabolism boosting foods.

Eggs: proteins stimulate the metabolism more than any other nutrient, and eggs are perhaps the most nutrient dense of all proteins.

Salsa - Capsaicin, (what that gives peppers in their heat), stimulates the release of adrenaline, revving metabolism by up to 20%.

Coffee -The amount of caffeine in two cups of coffee cuts hunger by 35% and revs metabolism by about 50 cal.

Steel cut oatmeal - Extra fiber means this hot cereal help flush calories through the intestines unabsorbed. The fiber is so filling, people who have it at breakfast consume 33% less at midday.

Coconut oil - The complex makeup of this organic fat stimulates metabolism as it is broken down, revving up calorie burn by up to 50%.

Cinnamon - Only one half teaspoon of cinnamon makes your body metabolize sugar 20 times quicker, resulting in less hunger and fewer fat storage hormones.

Apple cider vinegar - The acetic acid in vinegar cuts the production of fat storage hormones and so the food you eat makes your appetite feel more satiated.

Seafood - Salmon and tuna.have anti-hunger and anti-craving properties that also boost your metabolic rate, so that you can lose up to 20% more weight.

Nuts. Studies show that eating nuts can make you feel full for up to 60 minutes longer than if you ate the a non fat food with the same amount of calories.

Childhood Weight Loss, Tips for Parents

These days it seems that a wide variety of factors come together with the sole purpose of empowering kids to gain weight, that is why childhood weight loss has become so important during the last few years. Television, junk food, video games, all these things combined will eventually result in the loss of a kid's balanced nutrition and exercising motivation; obviously it is highly common to find kids with overweight problems.

The childhood weight loss motivation and encouragement should come directly from parents, because as role figures, parents have the responsibility to promote a healthy way of life in their kids. Overweight problems in kids are not only bad for their future life in terms of appearance and happiness, but weight issues which are carried into adulthood are also very dangerous, because the kid, when fully grown, might develop several different health problems related to the excess fat accumulated in his body during several years. The only way to avoid this is by following a strict childhood weight loss program.

But what can parents do to promote this childhood weight loss habits? Well, first of all, as parents, we should talk to our kids and let them know about the different dangers that an overweight problem may arise. It is also very important to spend a lot of time with them and to teach them with our very behavior, meaning that you shouldn't do things that may endanger your health; otherwise your kid might mimic your behavior and end up suffering from a future health problem.

Following this same concept, it is very important for childhood weight loss, that you promote a healthy nutrition in your kids, always try to prepare healthy meals which are low on calories but rich in vitamins and minerals. But the most important childhood weight loss tip is to highly enforce your kid's self-esteem, never ever make them feel bad about the way they look, instead try to help them in their efforts.

Now, we all know that junk food plays a vital role in the life of any kid, however these sorts of nutrition are terrible for their childhood weight loss efforts, so try to replace them with a supply of healthy snacks that they may enjoy every once in a while. Kids often eat whatever seems already at hand, and since most of the time its chocolates and candy bars, they will eat them without any remorse. However, in order to help them with their childhood weight loss efforts, you should have other snacks available for them, such as fruits or cereals.

3 Secret Flaws With Calorie Counting Dieting Your Nutritionist Isn't Telling You?

Calorie counting is a great way to manage your weight loss program.

Essentially you can use calorie counting to drop your weight to your desired level and also use it to maintain your target weight to avoid yo-yo dieting pattern.

To achieve this, you have to get into the habit of tracking the amount of calories or energy in every food or drink that you consume.

The general guiding principle behind calorie counting for weight loss management is that in order for you to lose weight you need to burn more calories than you consume daily.

You either do this by eating less calories than your pre-determined daily requirement or you introduce some form of exercise to help burn more calories than your daily consumption or a combination of both.

So effectively calories out should exceed calories in.

When starting out with calorie counting, it is important that you first of all establish your daily caloric need or requirement.

Now this varies from person to person because your actual daily calorie requirements depends on a host of factors such as your age, sex, height, current weight, and indeed your level of activity.

When you have sorted out your basal metabolic rate you are then required to keep a daily log of all the calories in the food and drinks you consume daily as well as an 'exercise and activity log'. This is to ensure that you tilt yourself into a negative calorie balance because that is how you lose weight.

Keeping these Food logs alongside Exercise and Activity logs can be a nightmare without the help of a reliable calorie counting software or fitness software. However, all calorie counters or fitness software are not created equal.

I had experienced difficulty with calorie counting dieting and calorie counting software for years, so I embarked on a research to discover why you lose some weight initially but the loss just seems to tail off after a while.

Here are the flaws I came up with.

1. Your Rigid Calorie Diet is doomed to fail.

Something that happens when you are on a rigid calorie diet is that your weight loss results become affected by the law of diminishing returns over time.

Your calorie counting software may advise you to consume say 2200 calories a day and you follow that religiously only to discover that you are not shifting enough pounds as you would like to as time goes on.

How, you ask?. You see, in the first 2 weeks of our weight loss program, we may burn say 500 calories a day but as we move into week 3 and beyond, our body's metabolic rate slows down and may start burning about 450 calories or less.

Therefore, your rigid or fixed calorie counting diet weight loss results begin to diminish as a result.

2. Calorie Counting software are programmed to count one pound of weight loss as being equivalent to 3500 calories.

This is wrong. Yes, one pound of fat loss is equivalent to 3500 calories but you lose more than fat when you lose weight i.e you lose water and you also lose lean body.

Although you lose more fat at the initial stages of your weight loss program, you will eventually start to lose lean body mass as time goes on.

If you burn 3500 calories of fat, you lose one pound of weight. However, the story is different with lean body mass. In fact, the calorie loss requirement to lose one pound of lean body mass is totally different. This does not even include variables like your body mass index (BMI) which is important.

Now most calorie counters and weight loss software do not take this into consideration when they churn out results. They simply make one universal assumption of 3500 caloric loss is equivalent to one pound loss. Wrong.

3. Exercise and normal daily activity calorie use overlap which calorie counters miscalculate.

In your normal daily routine activities like browsing the internet as you are doing right now, you do burn calories. You may burn say 50 calories just being idle. Now if you mount your exercise bike, your calorie counter may advise 240 calories has been used up by you.

Well, at the completion of that biking exercise, you have actually burnt 190 calories i.e 240 deduct or take away 50.

Why.....because the 50 calories is what you would have spent anyway even without mounting the exercise bike and this must be taken into account when you do the calorie math.

However, your calorie counter or fitness software does not know this and will report 240 calories.... and you wonder why you have difficulty achieving your weight loss goals.

The point being made here is that your calorie counter tends to overestimate calories spent thereby giving you a false sense of achievement.

Now you know why you have failed to achieve sustained weight loss with calorie counting and calorie counters in the past. To get better weight loss results today and in future, you need to get yourself a reliable calorie counting software or fitness software that has been programmed taking all these flaws into consideration.

Three Day Diet

You will find a huge cross section of fast weight loss diets doing the rounds at the moment. All of these weight busting plans have one aim, to make you slimmer. Providing you are sensible and you stick to only one diet at a time, you should succeed and notice some visible results quite quickly. The types of food you are allowed on theses fat busting diets vary from plan to plan. With any fast process there is always sacrifice, this is no exception. All these rapid weight loss plans predominantly use starving techniques.

There are a few lose weight fast plans out there that claim you can lose up to 10 pounds in three days. These plans will more than likely involve no food at all and rely on you just drinking liquid.

Using a three day diet you will be told you can expect to see a weight loss in the region of 5 to 10 pounds. Three day diets have two big problems in my opinion. One, You will probably put the weight straight back on again after your three days. Two, they can cause some health that you will want to take into consideration.

These diets are created to achieve a very rapid weight loss; the weight has to come of your body somewhere. Three day diets target your water retention as water is easily gotten rid of and weight quite a bit. All you would lose after your three days is your body water and no fat lose would occur.

How Can I Lose Weight Fast?

It is the million dollar question in a billion dollar industry. How can I lose weight fast? This question has many answers because losing it fast can be achieved by any number of weight loss programs on the market today. Here is a tougher question.

How can you continue to consistently lose the weight and keep it off without feeling miserable, weak and hungry? With that question we have eliminated about 99% of the diet plans on the market today because pretty much all of them are designed to begin working quickly but very few fit the categories of not feeling miserable, weak and hungry. It's supposed to be tough right? You are supposed to be miserable because losing weight is hard work.

The truth of the matter is the calorie shifting programs are the only dieting method that meets all the requirements because it is the only one that requires you to eat more than 3 meals a day.

So you next question is how can I lose weight fast and keep it off by eating more than three meals a day. The answer is that calorie shifting programs are the only diet plans designed to fool your metabolism and keep it burning calories at a high rate. They key to dropping the pounds and keeping them off.

Your metabolism burns calories based upon your recent past eating habits so if you continue to eat the same carbs and calories every single day then your metabolism knows exactly how many calories to burn each day. With the calorie shifting programs you actually shift your carbs and calories every couple of days to keep your metabolism from adjusting and forcing it to keep burning calories at a high rate.

The important key to these programs is they allow you to keep eating all the carbs you body requires to have the fuel it needs to get through the day. This means you do not feel hungry or weak and thus you are not miserable.

Unknown Weight Loss Facts For Beginners

More and more people are concerned about their body weight. It seems that every year the amount of overweight people only increases and this is the reason why weight loss topic became so popular between everyone. Summer is not so far away and everyone is looking for a effective weight loss program.

In magazines we often see different diets, recipes and other stuff which should magically help us to loose weight, but do these methods really work? Personally I don't know anyone, who lost their weight using the principles which are described in our favorite magazines.

Few years ago I bought myself a bodybuilding guide, which completely changed my point of view into weight loss and muscle building. I have noticed that so many people are focused on popular stuff, which is shown on TV, advertised in magazines and I have noticed that not everyone realize that this is only a commercial trick.

I personally believe that everything can be achieved only by hardcore research and this is why my thoughts are based only on one bodybuilding guide, which was written by a person who was in bodybuilding for more than ten years.

I would like to introduce two important factors which are parts of a successful weight loss.

People have focused on the wrong things in their diet and this is why according to the statistics 87% of people who decide to loose weight, eventually fail and they gain even more weight after. A lot of people think that to loose weight they will need to make big, radical changes in their diets and lifestyle, but after two weeks time of low fat, low carb diet body can't cope with the sudden changes in ones lifestyle and eventually there is so called breakthrough. A person who was on diet goes to local supermarket, buys himself ten bars of chocolate and eats everything in one day and then he thinks that theres nothing better than old lifestyle. That is why you shouldn't make radical changes in your diet. Everything has to be made steadily.

There is another not traditional method. According to the bodybuilding guide, weight loss depends on energy balance. This method isn't so popular in magazine articles, but I think it should be the foundation of every weight loss program.

Basically when I say that weight loss is dependent on energy balance I mean that you should plan your meals and plan your daily activities. The days don't have to be perfectly planned, but the thing is that you will know how many energy you use. Inou short terms it means that you should get less energy from food than you use. This is a fact of successful bodybuilding. There are hundreds of pills, vitamins on the market, but if you don't combine it with this principle you unlikely will achieve the results you want.

This only the first article of my weight loss article series and soon I will write a new article which will give more unknown information about effective weight loss and successful bodybuilding.

For more unknown, cutting edge information on how you can successfully improve your body shape and how to become a healthier person be sure to check out http://www.getridoffatnow.com There is no better way to start!

Weight Loss Programs

Weight loss does not only hinge on watching the food that you eat and the pounds that you lose. It is focused more on an individual's overall health. In fact weight loss programs should never be about lifetime denial and abstinence from foods that make you happy. The ideal weight loss program allows one to adopt an enjoyable eating plan that is not tedious to follow. There are no drastic restrictions on the food and it does not subject you to extreme hunger. One eats well and eats right; there is variety as well as volume, the choices are pro healthy heart and a healthy mind. If serving sizes and the number of servings are adhered to, then the uphill task may be difficult but certainly not unachievable.

Exercise even if moderate is an essential component of any weight loss program. When one is active, one is using up calories that have been accumulated while eating. No activity means that the calories pile up and so do fat cells. Physical activity is not the same as exercise while both are recommended to make a weight loss program a success. Physical activity may just mean being active around the house like cleaning, dusting, mowing, gardening etc. Exercise is the activity which is undertaken as a regime on a regular basis in a repetitive manner with varying intensity. Any form of strenuous exercise needs the doctor's advice more so if one has a medical condition. It is advisable not to push oneself to the limits where there is the possibility of a breakdown. One's stamina and physical fitness can be built up gradually by following the regime regularly. Patience is definitely the name of the game.

If one is clear about the ideal weight that one wants to achieve, then the trick is to start right away and to stay motivated. Remember, there are no magic tricks waiting to happen out of weight loss pills and diet programs. Emphasis on the targets, your determination to follow and achieve what you have set out to do and the motivation to keep your goals in sight makes the seemingly impossible, possible indeed. It is not the weight loss program that is a sure bet, it is your will, your resilience and your endurance that can turn it into a sure bet!

We have a list of some of the best weight loss programs along with diet & exercise programs available. Find a healthy diet fitness program with TopHealthSpot.com online.

Revolutionary, Safe, and Clinically Proven Natural Weight Loss

America is in a health care crisis. More than 60 percent of US adults are overweight and 25% are considered obese. One in four children are overweight and are headed for a lifetime of chronic illness. These numbers have nearly doubled in the last twenty years.

Excess body weight has been linked to many common conditions affecting Americans. These include: heart disease, high blood pressure, back pain, certain cancers, hormonal imbalances, fatigue, stroke, high cholesterol, diabetes, gall bladder disorders, sleep apnea, Syndrome X (insulin resistance), and others. Health care costs directly related to obesity are second only to smoking and are increasing at an alarming rate.

Consistent weight loss can be accomplished by understanding and implementing some simple truths. Total caloric intake must be less than the amount of calories a person burns. This is known as the base metabolic rate (BMR). Low calorie high glycemic (carbohydrate) diets cause an increase in insulin which will virtually lock up fat making it impossible to burn. High insulin levels will lead muscle wasting when eating less than the BMR.

Moderate resistance training exercise is also required to insure lean muscle is retained. Maintaining muscle mass while burning fat improves body composition (increases lean muscle and decreases fat) and maintains or increases the BMR. Long term weight loss and/or maintenance is very difficult if a person has an uncontrolled appetite and/or problem with emotional eating.

These concepts are simple to understand but often difficult or impossible for the overweight person to implement. Another little known fact further explains why so many people are overweight. Ninety percent of overweight people are deficient in serotonin, dopamine, norepinephrine, and/or epinephrine. These are important brain and nervous system chemical messengers called neurotransmitters (NTs) that affect every system in the body including the appetite and satiety centers in the brain. Most people have heard of serotonin because those suffering from depression and/or anxiety disorders are commonly prescribed selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitor (SSRI) class drugs such as Prozac, Zoloft, Celexa, Welbutrin, etc.

Although these drugs sometimes provide temporary symptomatic relief, they DO NOT add a single molecule of serotonin to the system. In fact, SSRI drugs cause an increased rate of excretion of serotonin which further depletes a NT deficient person. The solution is to evaluate NT levels with a simple urine test and then optimize the NT by providing amino acid therapy. The amino acids provide the building blocks to rebuild the neurotransmitters. Serotonin, dopamine, norepinephrine and epinephrine are appetite suppressors.

In addition to their emotional/psychological functions, serotonin, dopamine, norepinephrine, and epinephrine are also natural appetite supressors. When a person has therapeutic levels of these NTs in their system, they go into a state of safe appetite control. This allows them to follow their reduced-calorie diet while eliminating emotional eating and carbohydrate and chocolate cravings.

Another benefit of this elegant approach is that not only are there no side effects, but there are significant side benefits. Optimizing NT levels can help with many other symptoms of low neurotransmitters such as depression, anxiety, insomnia, chronic fatigue, panic disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder, pms, fibromyalgia, migraines, hormonal dysfunction, adrenal fatigue, digestive disorders, and many others.

The clinical results using this approach are very promising. In a Minnesota clinic with a patient base of 690 patients, the results are as follows. Average starting weight: 211 pounds. Average total weight loss: 62.6 pounds. Average loss during first month: 16.9 pounds. Average loss during active loss program: 8.4 pounds/ month. Average goal weight: 149 pounds. Percentage of active patients reaching their goal: 90 percent.
